August 28th

It is really nice to be married to David. Being married to David feels really natural. It feels like in being married we are finally the way we always should have been. I am happy to be committed to David.

Gerring married was really nice. We were sealed in the Columbia River Temple. It felt amazing to create our eternal family. It was really profound to know that we have created something together that will extend through the eternities if we are faithful to our covenants.

Our reception was really nice too. I let my family take care of details so I could just relax and enjoy the day. We played fun games like the wedding shoe game and the newlywed game. We cut the cake, walked behind our flower girls, read a poem one of our guests wrote, and greeted as many of the guests we could. A lot of our guests stayed for a long time so that was fun.

It has been a very good and long break. I've been away from work and school work for two weeks now. David has stayed more occupied than me. He has been working on his research. I haven't stayed occupied with very much at all. I've read Animal Farm, listened to most of The Last Juror, a book on tape, moved into our new apartment, took care of a few errands, practiced using the bus system, and added more recipes to my book. I guess most of the rest of the time I have been relaxing - playing games with our families, watching shows I like, and goofing around. I kind of justify relaxing all the time by saying that getting myself good and rested and bored I will be excited and ready to work hard once the school year starts.

I'm pretty excited for school to start. My classes should be fun. It will be nice to challenge myself intellectually again. It feels like it has been forever since Spring term. I'm also pretty excited to go to church in our new ward. It will be fun to meet people. I hope David and I can make a couple friend to do dinner or games with.

Well, I'll be signing off for now; I should be back later.

Going to the hot spring

David here --

Last week, Erin and I went to the hot spring. We camped out for a day there. It was pretty fun. We arrived there probably mid afternoonish. One thing that was terrible was trying to lug our stuff up to the camp ground. We bought this container that held 3 gallons of water. It was a pain to get up there. As well, we had a bunch of food. We thought that we would be staying longer than 1 day when we were packing everything.

As we were going up, the person with the cooler of food and the water would do a little sprint until they got up a ways and stop and wait for the other person with all the backpacks, tent, and stove to catch up. That person was like the lumberer while the person with the cooler and water would sprint up ahead.

Erin said that she liked taking the 3 gallon water thing and cooler more because the back pack because the backpack hurt her shoulders.

After like an hour or two of lumbering our way up to the hot spring, we finally made it to a camp site. We were so happy to be able to stop. We were pooped out!

I was really paranoid about someone coming around and stealing our stuff. So, I wanted to hide my wallet, keys and cell phone. I hid it behind a log near our tent. I thought that I did a good job because even leaning over the log, I couldn't see it where I put it. You had to know it was there to find it because you couldn't see it.

We went up to the hot spring afterwards. It was nice and warm! But, we didnt' stay long because we were hungry and wanted to make dinner. We went back to forage for food!

We didn't really forage any further than the cooler of food that we brought. We decided that we wanted to eat grilled cheese for dinner. It was going to be so yummy! We figured out how to light our stove and started cooking the grilled cheese. The stove, however, burned our grilled cheese! It was very difficult to gauge how long we should leave the food on the stove because even though the bread on the grilled cheese was burned, the cheese on the inside wasn't melted. :( I wish that the grilled cheese would have cooked better.

We stayed at our camp after that and decided to go to sleep. The ground that night was very hard and not very nice to sleep on. Worse, we only had one blanket between the two of us. It got kind of cold that night, but cuddling close together, we stayed rather warm. During the night, it started raining. As well, our tent tipped over on its side. It was kind of cold if we rolled over on the side. Brrrr! I remember when I woke up it was pitch black and i couldn't see anything in front of myself. So black and so cold.

Me and Erin both woke up and decided to go up to the hot springs! When we were hiking up to the hot springs, we saw these people sleeping without tents. I kind of felt bad for them because it was raining the night prior. We asked them about it and they said that they were drenched and trying to start a fire to get a bit warmer. We told them that we had a camp stove that they could use, but they declined. We went the rest of the way to the hot springs, and went up to the third spring. It wasn't that warm, but it was much more private. Erin and I took advantage of the privacy that we had up there. :)

We hiked up a bit more to see if there were any other hot springs near there. We didnt' find any and turned back. We had a breakfast / lunch / brunch thing before we headed back home.

Finally dawn came
