Ouch! Erin and I tried to use some new mountain bikes that we got. We went up to Lambert Park. That was a big mistake.
For any of you that haven't mountain biked, it's more intense than you might think. The entrance to this park was a huge downhill. The path is maybe two to three feet wide at most spots. It's easy to run off of the path.
We checked out a "How To Mountain Bike" book from the library. The book basically said, "Newbies use their brakes. REAL mountain bikers use their weight to slow down." I thought, "OK. Don't use brakes. Use weight." Bad idea.
Erin fell down maybe ten seconds in and scratched herself up pretty bad. We went a bit further for a minute or so and Erin fell down again. We got back up to the top and put bandaids on Erin's scratches. She started just riding around the parking lot while I took down another trail that I thought would be easy.
I got going pretty fast and then I think I hit a rock and plummeted to the ground. I got a few scratches, but the worst part was on my chest. I got maybe a three inch wide and one inch tall spot on my chest where the flesh was ripped off and was bleeding. As well, my bike was not in great shape. The brakes got out of whack.
I was kind of frazzled by this and was determined not to let the mountain conquer me. However, Erin convinced me to call it a day and we went home at that point defeated by the mountain. We decided that we needed to ease into these trails a bit more. :)

It's been too long
I was just reading over some old blog posts and it was really nice. I love reading old journal postings; now I just need to get into the habit of making journal entries.
Since we last posted, I got a job working with AccessData. At first working there I felt a little bit like dead weight. I felt like I was a lot less productive than my co-workers. But now I feel like I have learned enough that I'm really starting to contribute. It's been really rewarding to stick to it and accomplish things at work.
The other big news is the dentist who was living upstairs got busted. He was practicing dentistry without a license. He had a license from Mexico, but not from the US. So we came home from work one day and our landlord told us he had been arrested and was going to be deported. But from that we have a new upstairs neighbor and he is super nice. We've done BBQs and game nights and he and his daughters are alot of fun.
This summer, David and I have been doing a garden. Michael and Allison were a great help with getting the soil prepared and the plants and seeds in the ground.

The garden is actually a lot bigger now. I'll have to get a more recent picture up.
We also recently went on vacation. We went to Austin, Texas to visit David's brother and then went to Washington to see my family. Both trips were really fun. We went kayaking and caving and to a Texas BBQ house in Austin.
Here is us in the cave:

In Washington we went to levy landing where we did smore's and hotdogs and actually did a mud fight. We also went to the movies and an all you can eat pizza place. It was really nice to be able to just hang out with my family. I liked sitting around the table doing a puzzle and talking. It was also fun to get away from work for a bit.
Last Sunday we were called to work in the nursery so we went in today for the first time. The kids are sweet and well behaved. There are so many of them compared to our old ward. I think there were about 12 kids in there. Come next January, there will be 21 kids in there. Luckily David and I will have a seperate class with only about 6 kids so it shouldn't be too unmanageable. There were 5 leaders in there today and a parent or two in and out so it was pretty reasonable.

Update
We almost never update on here. I wish I did more often. Oh well. :) To each his own.
Erin has been doing her student teaching. she's not too sure if she wants to continue with it later on. She's currently looking at programming jobs for when she finished her student teaching this week.
The MBA is tiring, but otherwise all right. I met a good friend named Cammeron. there's another good friend named Sean. I'm trying to get Sean into work at Adobe, but the recruiter over the position says that they're not really considering candidates for the position at this point. Oh well. :(

David's Post
I'm really starting to enjoy my job a bit. I enjoy the things I do there and the impact that I feel like I make. This week, I feel like I've made a real impact on things that are going on. For example, I fixed a recurring bug that was really hurting us, I created a new service, I tested an emergency change, and I addressed various other concerns brought up by client care. I enjoy the work I do there and hope I keep feeling that way about it. Also, I feel like I'm learning a ton.
I'm kind of nervous to start my MBA next semester. I'm nervous about the drive. I'm kind of nervous about the time commitment. I'm kind of nervous about being on the younger end of my class. There's a lot to be nervous about. The average age for people in this program is about 30 years old. I am WAY on the younger end. I'm 24. I'm kind of excited to get going with it. I think that this will be a good move for making sure I can provide very well for Erin.
